Hank is the wonderful “country-style but versatile” vocalist who asked me to play this. At the time I was very busy, but I accepted the invitation without first listening to the song. My schedule and work/life balance meant Hank had to wait very patiently for me to get around to this, with 50-odd songs ahead of it on my to-do list.
When I finally got around to transcribing and recording the song over the Christmas holidays I was shocked to discover there were only 9 (nine) trumpet notes in the whole thing. I can’t tell you how guilty I felt for making Hank wait so long for something that I was able to start and finish in minutes, so I was even sure to include harmonies. Fortunately, Hank is a very patient and forgiving man!
Now you can push out those same 9 notes (plus harmonies!) if you ever need to.
